SARA'S DESIGN ETHOS, TREND FORECAST & STYLE TIPS
What’s your signature design style?
“The core of my jewellery centres around contemporary designs that can move effortlessly from daytime to evening wear. I have taken inspiration from my Eastern roots and my jewellery features lashings of colour and subcontinental motifs to make my designs unique and exciting.”

Can you tell us what’s trending in jewellery right now?
“This year, earrings are definitely shorter with less fuss, and have a greater gold content. Long, flowing chains and large statement pendants dominate over traditional shorter necklaces. There is more flow and movement. Pink gold is very popular as well as using gold in a myriad of shades within a single piece of jewellery. Settings in black rhodium-plated-gold accentuate diamonds and create almost gothic-like boldness in short earrings and statement cocktail rings. Last year’s wrist cuffs have been replaced by more strappy wrist jewellery, often with a generous sprinkling of charms. Bells and bows are also hot right now.”

What’s the best and worst way to wear jewellery?
“I feel that when you are comfortable with what you’re wearing you can always carry it off. The best way to wear jewellery is feeling at ease with it. The only time jewellery looks strained is when we overdo it. Jewellery is meant to accentuate and finish a look, not overwhelm.
When wearing large sets and strong statement pieces, your attire should allow for this appropriately.”

Which celebrities would you love to see wearing your designs?
“I recently returned from a trip to Myanmar. I would love to design for Aung San Suu Kyi – she is strong, beautiful yet delicate - and of course very determined!”
